  • Position:  Development Coordinator

    Position Purpose  

    The Development Coordinator is responsible for ensuring that the technical infrastructure for the many fundraising channels and campaigns at Common Hope are strong, innovative, and current. They will ensure data integrity, support other members of the team, and fill a key role in relationship management through data analytics. The candidate should be ready to take ownership over the development support systems, including completing tasks, making process improvements, and keeping others on track. This is a great opportunity for someone who wants to get into Development! 

     

    Responsibilities   

    • Prepare regular reports that measure the development department’s progress toward goals. 

    • Support, evaluate, and make recommendations for development, especially student sponsorship, communications plans 

    • Facilitate the communication and information exchange between a sponsor and the student and family in the program in partnership with Guatemalan sponsorship team. 

    • Set up and manage online giving forms. 

    • Assist with portfolio creation and maintenance. 

    • Support prospect research for grants, event opportunities and potential donors 

    • Create and manage the database infrastructure for student sponsorships and visitor experience. 

    • Managing development timelines and coordinating deliverables to ensure on-time submission of high-quality grant applications and reports. 

    • Support the team in researching grant opportunities, writing proposals, and compiling necessary documents for submission. 

    • Managing accurate lists of current and potential donors through Raiser’s Edge NXT. 

    • Supporting other communications and outreach functions as needed 

    • Responsible for the coordination of the operations related to the student sponsorship and visitor experience fundraising strategies 

    • Assist in the preparation of materials needed for meetings, presentations, events. 

    • Coordinate development operations including accounts receivables, packaging, and mailings 

    Qualifications  

    • High school diploma, GED, or equivalent education. 

    • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, Teams, and Outlook. 

    • Comfort with video meetings through Teams and Zoom. 

    • A self-starter with strong problem-solving skills. 

    • Experience with development databases (Raiser’s Edge NXT preferred) 

    • Strict adherence to deadlines, with ability to set and meet timelines. 

    • Commitment to protecting and maintaining confidential information and sensitive data. 

    • Comfort and basic familiarity with financial information.  

    • Extraordinary attention to detail, including exceptional English language proofreading skills. Preference for conversational Spanish language skills. 

    • A customer service mindset that focuses on creating value, loyalty and trust among both colleagues and contributors to Common Hope. 

    • A strong sense of personal responsibility and integrity.

  • Position:  Outreach Officer

    Position Purpose  

    The Outreach Officer plays a critical role in strengthening Common Hope's community engagement efforts by building and expanding partnerships with schools, faith-based groups, civic organizations, and corporate partners. This position focuses on increasing resources and fostering meaningful collaborations that advance Common Hope’s mission. Through outreach, education, and strategic relationship-building, the Outreach Officer will engage diverse communities to inspire support, recruit participants, and amplify the organization’s impact. 

     

    Responsibilities   

    1. Schools, Faith-Based, and Civic Groups Strategy: 

    • Develop, manage, and lead an annual operational plan for engaging schools, faith-based organizations, and civic groups. 

    • Collaborate with leadership to coordinate and execute key activities for each partner group. ​

    2. Partnership Development and Engagement: 

    • Strengthen and expand partnerships to support Common Hope’s mission and foster community engagement. 

    • Build strategic relationships with schools, faith-based groups, and civic organizations to increase resources and involvement. 

    3. Outreach and Community Education: 

    • Seek opportunities to educate diverse audiences about Common Hope’s programs through presentations and engagement with schools, faith-based, and civic groups. 

    • Expand outreach efforts beyond Minnesota, targeting key communities. 

    • Track and report on outreach success metrics. 

    4. Strengthen and Expand Corporate Partnerships: 

    • Develop and implement corporate engagement strategies through volunteer opportunities, event sponsorships, vision teams, and corporate grants. 

    • Monitor and optimize corporate partnerships for sustained growth and alignment with organizational goals. 

    5. Reporting and Recruitment: 

    • Promote Common Hope’s opportunities for involvement, including Vision Teams, sponsorship, Pathway Program, events, and volunteering. 

    • Recruit new recurring donors, sponsors, Vision Team participants, and volunteers through targeted outreach initiatives. 

    6. Stewardship and Support: 

    • Ensure consistent acknowledgment of contributions to foster a culture of gratitude. 

    • Strengthen relationships with partners through effective stewardship practices. 

    • Support grant applications related to schools, faith-based groups, and civic partnerships. 

    7. Portfolio Management: 

    • Maintain an individual portfolio of partners, donors, and stakeholders as defined by the Development Manager, with a focus on deepening engagement and retention. 

    Qualifications  

    • Required Qualifications: 

    • Bachelor’s degree in Nonprofit Management, Marketing, Communications, or a related field. 

    • 2-4 years of experience in outreach, community engagement, or partnership development. 

    • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to engage diverse audiences. 

    • Proven experience building and maintaining collaborative partnerships. 

    • Proficiency in database systems, preferably Raiser's Edge or similar platforms. 

    • Excellent organizational and project management skills. 

    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications. 
       

    Preferred Qualifications: 

    • Experience in nonprofit outreach or volunteer recruitment. 

    • Proficiency in Spanish. 

    • Familiarity with corporate engagement strategies and grant writing. 

    • Demonstrated commitment to Common Hope’s mission, vision, and values. 

    • Ability to travel domestically and occasionally internationally as needed. 

    • Flexibility to work evenings or weekends for outreach activities and events.

  • Position:  Communications Specialist

    Position Purpose  

    The Communications Specialist plays a pivotal role within the Communications Team at Common Hope, reporting directly to the Director of Communications. In this elevated position, the Communications Specialist will spearhead the implementation of comprehensive communication strategies to advance Common Hope's mission and bolster revenue streams. Emphasizing a fusion of creativity and strategic insight, the Communications Specialist will orchestrate multifaceted marketing initiatives, leveraging their expertise in content creation, design, and event management. 

     

    As Communications Specialist, the role provides assistance to the Development and Communications Teams which includes the Sponsorship, Development, Visitor Experience, and Communications functions of the organization both in the U.S. and in Guatemala. 

     

    Responsibilities   

    • Collaborate closely with team members to ideate and actualize compelling program and outreach materials, harnessing adept copywriting and design skills to manifest the organization's vision. 

    • Develop and execute dynamic email marketing campaigns and event promotions, ensuring alignment with overarching strategic objectives. 

    • Drive the evolution of the Common Hope website by curating engaging content and crafting insightful blog posts to captivate diverse audiences. 

    • Manage the coordination of the eNewsletter in partnership with the team in Guatemala and St Paul, demonstrating proficiency in article composition. 

    • Engage collaboratively with the communications team to curate impactful social media content, fostering meaningful connections with stakeholders across digital platforms. 

    • Provide comprehensive event marketing support in tandem with Special Events Manager, encompassing email outreach, signage production, and logistical coordination. 

    • Lead the management and execution of Common Hope's virtual Give to the Max Day event, ensuring seamless execution and maximal participant engagement. 

    • Assist in the conception and production of captivating marketing videos, amplifying the organization's narrative through visual storytelling. 

    • Manage the execution of major printed publications (gift catalog, newsletter, end of year reports,  etc.) 

    • Collaborate closely with Director of Communications and the team to develop and implement innovative marketing plans for new campaigns, initiatives, and programs. 

    • Maintain thorough oversight of constituent email lists, partnering with the database admins to uphold data integrity and facilitate streamlined communication processes. 

    • Extend flexible support to Common Hope Leadership, the Development Team, and key stakeholders, undertaking additional marketing duties as required to drive strategic imperatives forward. 

    Qualifications  

    • Demonstrated commitment to the mission, vision, and values of Common Hope, exhibiting a passion for effecting positive change in underserved communities. 

    • Proven proficiency in project management and organizational leadership, capable of thriving in a dynamic, fast-paced environment characterized by shifting priorities and tight deadlines.

    • Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Communications, Public Relations, or a related field, complemented by three to five years of demonstrated experience in marketing and communications roles. 

    • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite, encompassing InDesign, Photoshop, and Illustrator, as well as experience with email marketing platforms such as Constant Contact. 

    • Skilled in website content management, with proficiency in Wix preferred, and a proven track record of creating impactful marketing videos using tools like Adobe Rush or iMovie. 

    • Strong understanding of social media dynamics and digital marketing strategies, with a working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications. 

    • Experience in nonprofit marketing and proficiency in Spanish. 


    Specific Requirements: 

    • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Marketing, Communications, Public Relations, or related field. 

    • One to three years of demonstrated experience in marketing and communications. 

    • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator). 

    • Experience with Constant Contact or similar email client. 

    • Proficiency in website content management (Wix preferred). 

    • Experience creating marketing videos (Adobe Suite preferred, or similar software). 

    • Strong social media understanding and strategy planning. 

    • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications. 

    • Preferred: Experience in nonprofit marketing.
