Volunteers are
one of the key reasons that Common Hope works so well.
They offer many vital resources we need to continue our
work.
| • new ideas | • fresh enthusiasm | | • needed expertise | • hard work |
Maintaining the proper balance between
paid staff and volunteers is crucial to maximizing the abilities
of both. A well-managed team of volunteers is a very
cost-effective way to mobilize a powerful work force, which
not only serves the poor but also enriches the lives of
the volunteers.
- Volunteers in Minnesota, USA provide important support
services for the staff in the U.S. Office. They
pack supplies in the warehouse, organize mailings, fundraise,
purchase supplies, and provide administrative assistance.
Some work in the office or warehouse; others work from
their homes.
- Vision Teams and Short-term Volunteers in Guatemala relieve the workload of the staff and long-term volunteers. Their presence reminds the children and families of the extensive network of people who care for them.
- Medical and Dental Volunteers literally take away some of the pain. They put their expertise to work within hours.
- Long-term Volunteers add their leadership and education to the Guatemalan gifts of cultural understanding and spontaneity. Long-term volunteers give years to the difficult task of helping families climb out of disabling poverty. They suffer the heartaches, endure the frustration, and celebrate the joys that are an integral part of helping people anywhere.
We hope you will
consider supporting one of our volunteers or becoming one
yourself. Call our U.S. Office at 651-917-0917 or
email us to
discuss volunteering opportunities.
